Five erotic stories of different stages of self-discovery. From a confused teen dressing in a prom gown to grown-up straight guys discovering pleasure with another man. Gay men finding forbidden love in a punishing setting to mature men in a long-term relationship, Patient Lee’s characters represent a range of homosexual experiences. Follow the journey from the first time a young man questions his sexuality to men living a lifetime with the men they love.
Come with a Friend- An eighteen-old-man with a tragic life and a history of being bullied reconnects with a childhood friend who cooks up a scheme to take revenge on the bully of their youth. But is revenge the real reason for Jason wearing a gown to the prom? Or could Timmy be in love with him?
Christmas in July- Straight-guy Sam spends a weekend in a campground to entice his kids to hang out with him for Christmas in July. His ex-wife cuts the weekend short, leaving him plenty of time to hang out with Larry, the fortysomething gay man in the camper next door. Beer and Larry’s mildly dominant personality leads them into his camper. And then his bedroom.
Come on Down- While fooling around with the much younger Caylin, James has a flashback to a gay experience when he was younger, prompting his girlfriend to arrange a threesome with an old friend. How far will James go with another man this time?
Gay Greenhorn on the F/V Lost Agnes- Inspired by the song Midnight Train to Georgia, Carson travels to Alaska to try crab fishing, but the Lost Agnes is too much for him. He meets Artie, a closeted deckhand, and they fall hard and fast for each other. When life on the Bering Sea threatens to swallow him up, Carson has to return to Georgia, to the life he knows. But can Artie live without him or will he be forced to give up life on the Lost Agnes to live in Carson’s world in order to be together?
Love and a Hate Crime- Thad is twenty, but he’s slow. When his bully, Jimmy, tells him to “fuck up the queers,” the gay couple in their 60s who live down the block, Thad trusts that in return, Jimmy will leave him alone. When he breaks into their house, he witnesses the couple making love, arousing him and terrifying him at the same time. Will Thad go through with his plan or will he learn something important about himself when he witnesses two men in love?

This is a collection of MM erotic stories. More than that, though, these are stories of discovery. Men discovering new realms of sexual pleasure, and, as a result, discovering things about themselves. It's a really fun and uplifting collection. The stories are:"Come With a Friend" -- I've reviewed this story as a stand-alone, so I won't say much more here except to mention that this is a great, great story.
"Christmas in July" -- this one brings the sweetness. It's a tender story of a wounded man finding support and a place to belong.
"Come on Down" -- this one brings the silliness. The Price is Right tie-ins might make you roll your eyes, but the sex scenes are scorching hot. A "F" is added to the MM here for some truly engaging three-way action.
"Gay Greenhorn" -- a brilliant story. I've reviewed this also as a stand-alone, so I'll only mention that this story alone is worth the 5-star rating.
"Love and a Hate Crime" -- this story is deep. We see homophobic bias through the eyes of a mentally challenged man. In his simple wisdom, he wonders why he's supposed to hate "the queers" just because they love each other. It's a powerful message and very nicely sums up the attitude of this collection: Love is Love.

Out Five Erotic Stories of Gay SelfDiscovery edition by Patient Lee Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Once again Patient Lee shows that she is a master story crafter when it comes to this, arguably her specialty. Each story in this book brings alive simple but wonderfully complex characters. Breathing realistic life, emotional heartbreak, and breath into their stories. A compelling collection. Bravo.
Come with a Friend Lifelong friendship builds slowly over years, growing into a comfortable closeness that mimics family love. And while this story is seen through the eyes of Jason to me the main character here was always equaled by Timmy. You only see his life through the eyes of others. The bullying he endures by Kevin, the compassion of the tom-girl Simone but then here comes Jason (Kari.) In Jason’s eyes, you get to see Tim as more than a back row character. He comes alive in the story because of Jason and his observations. Very nice work.
Christmas in July Emotional, pure, silly, sexually charged fun. A delightful read, with characters you sympathize with. Larry’s life had settled into a routine while Sam’s life was still in turmoil from his divorce. Both were in need of a friend but neither was looking. Tossed together in a campground, they were both keeping the other at arm’s length at first. But then a few beers and swapped commiseration bring them closer together. Then toss in some kids and “The Bitch” and you have an awesome story.
Come on Down Dedicated to the memory of a wonderful author, slyc_willie this story shows the imagination and creativity of Patient Lee to its fullest. The character of James shows the classic sexual discovery story in a very nice but odd touch, yodeling. His girlfriend’s, Caylin understanding his need and accepting it was a delight after the previous story’s denouncement by the wife.
Gay Greenhorn on the F/V Lost Agnes Possibly the best GM story she had done, Patient Lee throughout the stops and created a so very believable take on the job shown on the TV show Deadliest Catch. Crab fishing on the Bering Sea. Spectacular storytelling, wonderful characters and a touch of heartfelt romance in a harsh setting give this story the overall rounded splendor it displays. Beyond excellent work.
Love and a Hate Crime Told through the eyes of a simple man this, as the title says a story of love, has all the childlike wonder of the holiday seasons. Seeing the world in ways that most don’t … and in ways that too many do. The manipulation of innocence, Thad by Jimmy is so realistic it burns the heart to read. And through those innocent eyes, Patient Lee brings to light a so often asked question. Why do we hate? Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful work, PL.
Without a doubt, this author gets better with every story she tells and this book shows just that. “Bravo, lovely.” MST
Patient Lee is the mistress of erotic realism. She develops her characters with so much love and craft they and their story feel like people we know and love rather than fiction. Patient's men are not cringe-worthy stereotypes homosexual characters are usually reduced to. They are normal, down to earth people who happen to be gay or bisexual. That collection of coming out stories captures all the awkwardness, anxiety, fears and longing behind a first-time experience and dresses them in unexpected sensuality, passion and pretty often, true love. Have in mind that most of these stories deal with some dark and heavy themes such as depression, bullying, suicide wish, hate crimes and homophobia. However, don't let that stop you as all the stories also have an optimistic vibe about them and leave the reader feeling happy and uplifted.
I loved each of the stories individually but the one that will stay with me the most was the one the author describes as her best work, Gay Greenhorn on the F/V Lost Agnes. She really does a wonderful job of balancing lighter humor, dramatic elements, and scorching hot erotic chemistry. Even if gay romance and erotica are not your usual cup of tea, I'm sure you'd find something to love about these plots as they deal with universal themes of love and acceptance everyone can relate to.
